As a continuation of the protest to recognise Manipuri language as associate official language in Assam, several CVOs of Cachar district blocked the road at Fulertal Digger point from 10 am to 3 pm on Thursday.

The SDO of Lakhipur, Cachar district, Assam reached the spot of protest where he gave assurance to look into the matter. A memorandum was also submitted to the SDO by the representatives of the CVOs.

Women Action Committee for Village Protection (WACVP) women Sunita Konthoujam said that if the demand to include Manipuri language as associate official in Assam is not fulfilled at the earliest, there will be stronger form of agitation even during this Durga Puja festival.
