Over 100 BJP workers, leaders join Congress party in Assam

The Assam BJP members who joined the Congress party on Sunday included 18 state BJP leaders, the APCC president said.

Over 100 Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and leaders joined the Congress party on Sunday.

The BJP members were inducted into the Congress party fold at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati in the presence of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah, MP Pradyut Bordoloi, state Congress Legislative Party leader Debabrata Saikia and other senior party leaders.

“More than 100 workers & leaders from BJP joined @INCIndia today at Guwahati Rajiv Bhawan, in presence of APCC President Shri @BhupenKBorah, ACLP Leader Shri @DsaikiaOfficial, MP Shri @pradyutbordoloi and many senior leaders,” Assam Congress tweeted.

The Assam BJP members who joined the Congress party on Sunday included 18 state BJP leaders, the APCC president said, adding that people of the state are not happy with the present state BJP government.

 “Today, 18 BJP leaders of different parts of the state have joined the Congress," Bhupen Kumar Borah said.

Meanwhile, the APCC president accompanied by MP Pradyut Bordoloi, state Congress Legislative Party leader Debabrata Saikia and senior party leaders paid floral tribute to to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary on Sunday at the party's office in Guwahati.

"Hon'ble APCC President Shri@BhupenKBorah, accompanied by ACLP Leader Shri@DsaikiaOfficial, MP Shri@pradyutbordoloi and senior leaders paid floral tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary today at Guwahati Rajiv Bhawan," the party tweeted.
