At least 26 Myanmar nationals, including 10 women, were arrested with forged Indian documents from the Rehbari area of Guwahati on Sunday, police said.
The police said that the apprehended persons hail from Chin state of Myanmar and they were on their way to Delhi to study Bible (theology).
On a tip-off, a raid was conducted in Kamrupa Lodge (Muana Run) at Rehabari and 26 suspected persons (16 male and 10 female) were apprehended," the police said, adding that forged Indian documents "made in Mizoram", including Aadhaar card and Voter-ID cards were recovered from their possession.
A case has been registered in Paltan Bazar Police station (case no - 860/2021) under section 468 of the Indian Penal Code (PC), read with section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946, read with 3/4 Passport (Entry into India) Act 1920, read with section 6 of passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950.
