Joining several students’ organizations in expressing solidarity to the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has strongly condemned the recent bomb attack on AMSU headquarter in Imphal by unidentified persons. It urged the Manipur government to arrest culprits involved in the attack.
AAPSU stated in a release that it was greatly dismayed and agitated to learn about the hand grenade blast inside the compound of the AMSU head office at DM University campus in Imphal on June 8.
“Although there was no casualty due to the blast, the Union strongly condemns such cowardly attack against a premier student’s organization of the North East Region which has been tirelessly working for the indigenous people of Manipur since its very inception,” the AAPSU said.
The AAPSU stated that the genuine voice of the student’s community can never be silenced.
“Such attacks never serve any purpose but as it will only strengthen the resolve and zeal of the AMSU to work for the student’s community of Manipur. The attack clearly points to the desperation of anti-social elements who want to derail the students union movement in the state of Manipur,” it said.
The AAPSU assured that it will do whatever it can under the aegis of the North East Students’ Organization (NESO) for ensuring justice to AMSU.
“While extending our solidarity with the student’s community of Manipur and the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), we strongly urge the Government of Manipur to take serious note of the incident and immediately arrest all the culprit(s) involved in the attack,” the student union added.
On Thursday, several student bodies of Northeast states strongly condemned the attack and demanded arrest and punishment of the perpetrators as per law.
