Artists of Manipur are positive thinkers, says commissioner M Joy

The 17th Annual Art Exhibition, 2022 of Imphal Art College was held on Wednesday.

Commissioner of Arts and Culture M Joy, on witnessing the exhibited portraits and sculptures of love and beautiful landscape at the 17th Annual Art Exhibition, 2022, expressed that it is a sign that the artists of Manipur are all positive thinkers.

Joy was delivering the chief guest speech during the inauguration of the six-day long art exhibition at the campus of Imphal Art College in Kabo Leikai, Imphal East on Wednesday.

The commissioner said that he was overwhelmed to witness that none of the paintings, sculptures, graphics and designs has any image or symbols of negativity.

The main objective of such an exhibition is to provide a platform to the artists and students to showcase their talents as well as encourage them by holding a healthy competition, he said.

Paying floral tributes to the founder principal of Imphal Art College late H Shyamo Singh marked the opening ceremony of the exhibition. As a part of the programme, film maker Th Debendra was also felicitated on winning the State Film Award 2022 (documentary section).

Students of the college also opened various stalls on the campus of the college. It was also attended by chairman of Imphal Art College Y Ibochaoba Singh as president, director of Arts and Culture L Kishworjit Singh as guest of honour.
