6th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival 2023 begins

Organised under the theme, “Reconstruction of Cultural Memory” by the Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust, the six-day long festival will also be giving outdoor stage performances on various dying art forms of Manipur.

The 6th Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival 2023 kicked-off on Wednesday at JNMDA, Imphal with the presentation of the play “Echasha Epa Lamboirage” of the Rupmahal Theatre directed by (L) Brojendro.

Organised under the theme, “Reconstruction of Cultural Memory” by the Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust, the six-day long festival will also be giving outdoor stage performances on various dying art forms of Manipur.

On the first day, the dying art form “Pena Phamsak” was performed by students of LAIHUI in the open stage set up inside the JNMDA complex, prior to the formal inaugural function of the festival.

Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, former president of Manipur Sahitya Parishad, IS Kangjam, lauded the magnificent works of late Brojendro and stated that every of his play depicts the real image of the happenings in the society.  

During the programme, a book on three plays written by late Brojendro and a souvenir on the festival was also released by the dignitaries which includes retired IAS RK Nimai and awardee of Khundongbam Brojendro Ningsing Mana 2023 Moirangthem Inao.
