Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) observed the 100th birth anniversary of Maharajkumari Binodini at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU), Yaiskul on Sunday. A memorial lecture on ‘MK Binodini and Art’ was presented and a journal ‘Leikol’ was released during the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, president, LEIKOL Kshetrimayum Subadani said that late MK Binodini was a treasure of Manipur. Her dedication and sacrifice in the field of art and literature is commendable, she said. The present generation should preserve and promote all those literary works gifted by her for the society, she said.
Commemorating her, LEIKOL will observe the birth anniversary of MK Binodini for a year, she said. They will conduct various programmes throughout the year such as holding symposiums, organising storytelling, poetry recitation and so on, she informed.
The programme was also attended by former chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women (WSCW), professor Chongtham Jamini Devi; dean of Humanities, Manipur University Nahakpam Aruna as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
