Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee and National Students Union of India Manipur marched a silent rally from Congress Bhavan to Kangla gate on Friday evening and also held a candlelight vigil against the killing of Athuan Abonmai.
Later, the members were reportedly dispersed by police personnel from Kangla gate.
During the rally, the members of MPYCC and NSUI were seen holding placards that read, ‘govt. reacts fast against voices in social media. Will it be fast in crimes too?’, ‘home minister must resign on moral grounds’, ‘BJP govt. Where is justice’, ‘Go to hills becoming killing field’ during the rally.
Speaking during the candlelight vigil at Kangla gate, youth in-charge of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Amin Shah said MPYCC and NSUI condemned the killing of Athuan Abomai.
Amin questioned whether such an incident is an indication of a better law and order situation in the state. President of MPYCC Mahananda Nungleppam demanded that the state government should deliver justice for Athuan Abonmai at the earliest.
