India’s COVID-19 active caseload stood at 3,32,158 with 30,773 new COVID-19 positive cases, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry early Sunday. The country’s active cases account for 0.99 per cent of the total 3,34,48,163 confirmed cases.
The countrywide COVID-19 death toll mounted to 4,44,838 as 339 more patients succumbed to the disease, while 38,945 more people recovered from the illness. The total recoveries reached 3,26,71,167 as of Sunday. The Recovery Rate improved to 97.68 per cent.
As the situation improved, the weekly positivity rate remained less than three per cent for the last 86 days at 2.04 per cent, while the daily positivity rate also remained below three per cent for the last 20 days, at 1.97 per cent.

Meanwhile, 55.23 crore total tests for COVID-19 have been conducted across the country so far, and 80,43,72,331 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country, the ministry stated in a release.
The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, the ministry said.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been providing states and UTs COVID vaccines free of cost. More than 78.58 crore (78,58,15,125) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through the Union Government free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category. Further, 1,16,11,210 doses are in the pipeline.
More than 5.16 Cr (5,16,98,785) balance and unutilised COVID vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered, the ministry added.
