Awareness on sustainable development was provided to several farmers in villages of Churachandpur as the Community Developmnet Society (CDS) on Thursday launched a four-day farmers exposure visit programme in the district.
The four-day farmers exposure visit programme, organised by CDS in collaboration with NABARD, will be held at Lungthul, Kaihlam, Mualnuam and Sinzawl village of Thanlon sub-division, sources in CDS said.
The visit, accompanied by an expert team, is led by CDS president Lianzamung Tonsing. On the first day of the tour, the team distributed sanitisers and face masks to the villagers who took part in the programme.
Horticulture expert Jogindro and one Pumsonmuan imparted knowledge to the farmers on how to make better fruit farms and preservation for sustainable development. The farmers were taught how to make pickles from bamboo shoots.
The fruits garden supported by NABARD through CDS since 2019 has produced varieties of fruits and recently, a food processing unit under the brand ‘Zo Foods’ was launched in Churachandpur.
