India's COVID-19 active caseload falls to 3,63,605, lowest in last 150 days

India reported reported 36,571 new COVID-19 cases, while 543 more people succumbed to the disease.

India on Friday reported 543 more COVID-19 deaths that pushed its COVID-19 death toll to 4,33,622. It also reported 36,571 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of active cases to 3,63,605; the lowest in the last 150 days, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

The ministry’s morning bulletin showed the cumulative number of active cases account for 1.12 per cent of total cases of 3,23,58,210; the lowest since March 2020.

India also reported 36,555 new COVID-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3,15,61,635. With it, the recovery rate increased to 97.54 per cent; the highest since March 2020.

As the number of new COVID-19 cases continued to fall, the weekly positivity rate remained less than three per cent for the last 56 days at 1.93 per cent.

The daily positivity rate also remained less than three per cent for the last 25 days at 1.94 per cent.

Meanwhile, over 50.26 crore total tests have been conducted so far, while a total of over 57.22 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

The vaccination exercise as a tool to protect the most vulnerable population groups in the country from COVID-19 continues to be regularly reviewed and monitored at the highest level, the ministry stated in a release.
