India's COVID-19 active caseload lowest in last 148 days

India reported 35,178 new Covid-19 cases, 440 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said.

A total of 35,178 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in the last 24 hours pushed India's COVID-19 active caseload to 3,67,415, which is the lowest in 148 days, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry .

The total number of active cases constitutes 1.14 per cent of total cases; lowest since March 2020.

The country also reported 440 new deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 432519 so farthe ministry said.

The recovery rate improved to 97.52%; highest since March 2020. India today has 3,14,85,923 total recoveries as 37,169 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

As the country continued to witness a downtrend, its weekly positivity rate is currently at 1.95 per cent, which is less than three per cent for the last 54 days, while the daily positivity rate stood at 1.96 per cent; less than three per cent for the last 23 days.

Meanwhile, in view of the looming third wave of the pandemic, the testing capacity has been ramped up and a total of over 49.84 crore tests have been conducted so far. And, a total of over 6.06 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
