Amid of the reports of impending third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic hitting the country, India reported increasing number in daily COVID-19 positive cases at 42,982 in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Thursday.
The country’s active caseload reached 4,11,076. It constitutes 1.29 per cent of the total COVID-19 confirmed cases of 3,18,12,114.
Weekly positivity rate remained below five per cent, currently at 2.37 per cent, while the daily positivity rate at 2.58 per cent; less than three per cent for last 10 days.
The COVID-19 testing capacity has been substantially ramped up across the country. A total of over 47.48 crore tests have been conducted so far.
India's COVID-19 death toll rose to 4,26,290 with 533 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, 41,726 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries across the country to 3,09,74,748. The recovery rate currently is 97.37 per cent.
In view of the looming third wave, in the effort to control the situation, concerned task forces have made efforts to speed up the pace of COVID-19 vaccination in all states. A total of over 48.93 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
