The Salaaichaa Khong-Hou Lup on Sunday extended condolence on the sudden demise of Takhelambam Kamala Chanu, a Myanmar Meetei icon and secretary of National League for Democracy (NLD), Mandalay Region and president Salaai Kanba Lup, Mandalay Unit, Myanmar after battling with COVID-19 on Saturday.
All the members of the Salaaichaa Khonghou Lup,Thoubal, Manipur share the grief and loss of the bereaved family and the people of Myanmar, stated a condolence message issued by president, Salaaichaa Khonghou Lup M Korouhanba Luwang.
SKHL held a condolence meeting presided by M Korouhanba Luwang on Sunday through video-conferencing where all the members of executive Council took part.
In the meeting, chairman of Salaai Kanba Lup conveyed the valuable contributions of late Kamala Chanu in setting up the SKL Unit of Mandalay. She took part in promoting the democratic movement in the country, he said.
“We are proud of her as a leader of the NLD in the Mandalay Region. She also helped and guided Meeties in entering Myanmar by working as a tourist guide. Her sudden demise is our great loss and nothing can replace the vacuum she had left beind after her untimely demise,” the message stated.
She will be remembered with love and affection in the hearts of all Salaaichaas of Kangleipak (Manipur), Myanmar, Bangladesh, Assam, Tripura and other parts of the world, it further stated.
“Words cannot express how sorry we are on hearing about the passing of our beloved sister Kamala. May Lord Sidaba Mapu put her soul in comfort and peace and give strength to her family to bear this untimely loss,” it added.
