Manipur reports 1,165 new COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 94000-mark

The highest number of daily new COVID-19 cases was reported from Imphal West with 337 cases.

Manipur's COVID-19 tally crossed 94000-mark after the state added over 1,000 new positive cases in a span of 24 hours, official sources said.

As per the latest updates from the state health department, a total of 6,329 test results were received on Sunday, of which 1,165 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received as of Tuesday is 10,59,872, it stated.

With the new 1,165 new COVID-19 positive cases, the state's tally surged to 94,821, including 10,802 active cases. 

The highest number of daily new COVID-19 cases was reported from Imphal West with 337 cases, followed by Imphal East with 299 and Churachandpur with 123 cases. The other new COVID-19 cases included 105 from Bishnupur, 66 from Chandel, 63 from Kakching, 58 from Thoubal, 31 from Tamenglong, 23 from Kangpokpi, 1a from Ukhrul, 13 from Jiribam, 12 from Kamjong, nine from Noney, eight from Senapati, and two from Tengnoupal. Four new positive cases were from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

In addition to the new COVID-19 positive cases, Manipur also recorded 11 more deaths, including two each from Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal, and one each from Kakching, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul. The death toll surged to 1,498. Out of the 11 deaths, eight persons had comorbidities, while only three victims were vaccinated with the first dose, it stated.

On Tuesday,  876 patients were discharged, pushing the cumulative number of recovered cases to 82,521 and the recovery rate stands at 87.02 per cent, it stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,160 D-type oxygen cylinders and 463 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 12,34,030 (First dose: 10,5,549 and second dose: 1,78,281).
