India reports 39,097 new COVID-19 cases, 546 deaths

The weekly positivity rate remained below five per cent at 2.22 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is now 2.40 per cent, less than three per cent for 33 consecutive days.

India on Saturday reported 39,097 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. With it, the cumulative number of active caseload stood at 4,08,977, constituting 1.31 per cent of the total cases.

The weekly positivity rate remained below five per cent at 2.22 per cent, while the daily positivity rate is now 2.40 per cent, less than three per cent for 33 consecutive days.

Meanwhile, 546 more fatalities were reported, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 4,20,016.

India also reported 3,05,03,166 total recoveries across the country so far and the Recovery Rate reached 97.35 per cent as 35,087 more patients recovered in the last 24 hours, according to the latest update by the Union Health Ministry.

In view of the looming third wave, Covid vaccination is being advocated to speed up the pace of vaccination across the country and mass testing is being conducted across the country.

In total, 42.78 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

Testing capacity has been substantially ramped up with mass testing campaign carried out across the country. In all,  45.45 crore tests have been conducted till date.
