Advocacy programme on COVID-19 vaccination held at Tumnoupokpi village

MLA Nemcha said that “the vaccine is the only tool we have to overcome the dreaded COVID-19" and appealed to the people of the Tumnoupokpi area not to hesitate in getting vaccinated.

An advocacy programme on COVID-19 vaccination was carried out at Tumnoupokpi village in Kangpokpi on Friday.

The occasion was attended by MLA Nemcha Kigpen; district immunisation officer Dr J Touthang; medical superintendent District Hospital Kangpokpi Dr Paotinlal Haokip and MO PHC Kalapahar Dr Pilhing.

Highlighting the necessity and importance of vaccination, MLA Nemcha said that “the vaccine is the only tool we have to overcome the dreaded COVID-19" and appealed to the people of the Tumnoupokpi area not to hesitate in getting vaccinated.

Secretary, Tumnoupokpi Village Authority Livingson expressed heartfelt gratitude to the local MLA for her efforts. The MLA also visited a mass vaccination drive conducted at Yaikongpao village and provided protective gears to the Covid task force Yaikongpao-Tumnoupokpi while interacting with the village leaders to exert more efforts so that the village could be fully vaccinated.

According to Covid task force Yaikongpao-Tumnoupokpi Chairman, John Thangal, 99 per cent of the population has already been vaccinated by now. After one more vaccination drive, the village would be fully vaccinated and it will be officially declared soon, he said.
