Manipur logs 1,284 new COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 90000-mark

With 1,284 new cases, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 90,262 on Friday.

Manipur's COVID-19 tally on Friday crossed 90000-mark as the state added over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours, according to the latest updates from the state health department.

As per the updates, a total of 6,836 test results were received on Friday, of which 1,284 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received as of Friday is 10,33,260.

With 1,284 new cases, the state's COVID-19 caseload surged to 90,262 and the number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 9,939 as of Friday, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.

Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases with 381 and 310 respectively. The other new COVID-19 positive cases included 140 from Churachandpur, 117 from Bishnupur, 95 from Thoubal, 85 from Kakching, 51 from Chandel, 34 from Tamenglong, 18 from Senapati, 17 from Tengnoupal, 14 from Ukhrul, nine from Kangpokpi, eight from Noney and five from Jiribam, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Apart from the unprecedented surge of daily COVID-19 cases, Manipur also registered 15 more deaths due to the disease, pushing the death toll to 1,451. Of the 15 deaths, nine persons had co-morbidities. Only two of the deceased were vaccinated with the first dose, it stated.

As many as seven deaths were reported from Imphal West alone. Three deaths were from Bishnupur, two deaths each were from Imphal East and Kangpokpi while one death was reported from Churachandpur district.

Friday saw 949 recoveries. Moreover, 776 persons are reported as discharged cases only on Friday due to various reasons. Therefore, the total number of recovered cases is considered as 1,725 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalisation team as of Friday, it added.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 78,872 and the recovery rate is 87.38 per cent, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,862 D-type oxygen cylinders and 388 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.

It further added that the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 11,34,710 (First dose: 9,94,982 and second dose: 1,39,728).
