As a part of the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Committee on COVID-19, Manipur organised Covid mass awareness drives at various parts of Kakching and Chandel districts on Thursday.

A release issued by media coordinator of the COVID-19 committee Geetchandra Mangang stated the awareness drives were conducted under the theme of ‘Get vaccinated, stay safe from COVID-19; Vaccination is the only way to fight COVID-19; Maintain SOP, Stay safe and healthy; and Lets fight COVID-19 together’.

During the awareness drives, the committee stressed on the need for people to have a general understanding of the disease and join hands to effectively tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. If a person shows any kind of Covid symptom, he or she must be tested immediately so that they can avail medical aid in time thereby saving their lives. Covid infections should never be kept under wraps since early treatment is the most reasonable action, it stated.  “Let us ensure that each and every individual above 18 years of age receives the Covid vaccines,” it added.

People should strictly adhere to the SOPs issued by WHO, and Health and Home departments from time to time. It is also important to acknowledge and honour the sacrifices and dedication of Frontline Warriors including doctors, nurses, health care workers and police, the committee stated.

The committee further stated that the awareness messages on COVID-19 were transmitted to the public using audio recordings. Information about the COVID-19 from assistant medical superintendent, RIMS Dr Y Arunkumar was also relayed to the public. The doctor appealed to the masses to strictly follow the guidelines issued by authorities concerned. He also urged the people to get vaccinated at the earliest stating that vaccinations are the most effective way to combat the virus. “Each and every one of us has an important role to play in the battle against COVID-19,” he added.

Appealing for public support, the committee urged the people to join hands since a united effort is essential to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
