A team of Senapati district police seized 15 packets of suspected crystal methamphetamine commonly known as ‘Ice drug’ and 9975 WY tablets from a truck at Hengbung, Senapati district on Wednesday.
According to police sources, the police team was conducting frisking and checking operations at Hengbung taxation area along NH-2 when a truck bearing registration number WB65B-9503 approached the highway. The truck was detained, and upon thorough checking, 15 packets of the suspected ‘Ice drug’ weighing about 1 kilogram each and 9975 WY tablets were found inside the truck.

The driver, who has been identified as Md Azad Khan, 21, son of Md Oli of Lilong Ushoipokpi, Thoubal district disclosed that the truck was headed for Dimapur.

The approximate value of the seized drugs could be Rs 30 crore for the Ice drug and Rs 50 lakh for the WY tablets, totalling up to Rs 3.5 crore in the market, police sources added.
