Downtrend in India's Covid-19 active tally continues

India's COVID-19 active caseload declined to 4,54,118 as 41,526 more patients recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry's update Sunday morning.

India's total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,08,37,222 with the report of 41,506 new COVID-19 positive cases, while its active caseload declined to 4,54,118 as of Sunday, the Union Health Ministry said.

The active cases constitute 1.47 per cent of the total COVID-19 confirmed cases in India, the ministry said, adding that a total of 2,99,75,064 Covid patients across the country have recovered so far.

As 41,526 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate increased to 97.20 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate remains below five per cent at at 2.32 per cent, and the daily positivity rate dipped to 2.25 per cent, less than three per cent for 20 consecutive days.

The country also reported 895 more COVID-19 deaths taking the toll to 4,08,040 as of Sunday morning updates by the ministry.

Meanwhile, the testing capacity was substantially ramped up with 43.08 crore tests total conducted, while 37.60 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive, the ministry added.
