Jiribam police seize IMFL, DIC Liquor

The seized liquor items have been handed over to OC Excise Jiribam for further legal actions, Jiribam police sources stated.

Jiribam district police arrested five alcohol vendors and seized 18 litres of Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor along with other ingredients used in alcohol preparation during a drive conducted at Lungreijang Village, Kalinagar Part-1 on Tuesday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Julie Panmei, 31, wife of Kenedy Panmei; Alunliue, 45, wife of Boy Panmei; Ashingna Rongmei, 48, wife of Simon Rongmei;  Ajwon Panmei, 35, wife of Binju Panmei; and Karangsinliu Panmei, 35, wife of Boy Panmei, and they are all residents of Lungreijang Village.

The seized items have been handed over to OC Excise Jiribam for further legal actions, Jiribam police sources stated.

Meanwhile, Jiribam Police Narcotic Cell apprehended a huge consignment of IMFL from a Bolero Camper, bearing registration number AS11CC 7484 near Lamkhai Bazaar area during routine frisking operations on National Highway 37 on Tuesday.

The driver of the Bolero has been identified as one Jitendra Singha, 33, son of Satyendra Singha from Larsingpar, Silchar and he was arrested on the spot. The seized IMFL included 12 bottles of 750 ml Imperial Black Whiskey; 2 bottles of 750 ml Magic Moment Vodka; 1 bottle of 750 ml McDowell’s No. 1 Rum; and 4 bottles of 375 ml Imperial Blue Whiskey have been over to OC Excise Jiribam, police sources added.
