Four arrested for allegedly kidnapping minor

The arrested persons have been remanded for five-day police custody after they were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West.

Four persons were arrested on charges of allegedly kidnapping a 13-year-old minor from Imphal West on Friday.

The arrested persons have been remanded for five-day police custody after they were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on the same day.

The arrested persons are identified as Khoisnam Rebecca, 19, daughter of Kh Binoy Singh of Luker Mamang Leikai, Imphal West; Soubam Tayalsana Devi, 19, daughter of S Ranjit Singh of Salam Mamang Leikai; Sumitra Heisnam, 20, and Jagasish Heisnam, 29, both siblings of Seityabarta Singh of Konthoujam Mamang Leikai, Imphal West. Police reported that the minor has been missing since Wednesday at about 3 pm.

During the course of investigation, accused Rebecca was picked up from her residence at about 4 am by a team of district police on Friday

A two-wheeler (TVS Jupiter) with no registration plate involved in the case was recovered from her residence.

On examination and from the disclosure of Rebecca, the police team rescued the minor from the house of Sumitra and Jagadish who are siblings of H Seityabarta located at Konthoujam Mamang Leikai at about 8.30 am of the same day. Later, the same police team arrested Tayalsana from her residence.

The rescued minor was produced and examined by the forensic doctors of RIMS. She was later produced before Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) with a protection prayer.

The four kidnappers were arrested and produced in front of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and have been remanded for five-day police custody for further investigation.
