Tadubi assembly constituency MLA N Kayisii on Saturday directed a team on his behalf to visit the alleged ill-equipped Primary Health Centre of Tujang Waichong, the only PHC in Twilang area along Imphal-Tamenglong road considering the role of health centres in remote hill areas.
The team led by his PRO and party workers visited the Primary Health Centre as the MLA had to attend an unavoidable engagement.
The visiting team was reportedly shocked to witness the dilapidated condition of the health centre despite being the only PHC in the area catering health care service to more than 60 villages.
During a short meeting with the village chief of Tujang Waichong, Lhunkholen Kipgen, youth leaders, Central task force leaders and medical staffs, president KSO Twilang block Enock Kipgen highlighted the lack of adequate staffs and infrastructure in the Centre, and the need to repair the crumbling building of the health centre.
He also highlighted the urgency of an ambulance and a generator in the health centre.
The village chief Lhunkholen Kipgen said that PHC T Waichong needs undivided attention from the department concerned because in any cases of emergency, it could not function as it should owing to its poor condition, non-availability of adequate staff, and infrastructure.
Twilang area has also been hit hard by the dreaded COVID-19 in the second wave. Daily cases of infection of COVID-19 were reported from the area a few weeks back.
The Central task force of Tujang Waichong and KSO Twilang block has been tirelessly helping and assisting the health workers to contain the pandemic COVID-19 in the area.
Meanwhile, the visiting team distributed various protective gears and medical equipment for the health centre including two oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters, PPE Kits and surgical face masks.
They also assured to push forward the matters to the department concerned and initiated the requirements at the MLA level.
