Now, Meghalaya has only four COVID-19 active cases

A senior state health department official said that the COVID-19 recovery rate in Meghalaya is close to 90 per cent.

With the recovery of four more persons from COVID-19 in Meghalaya, the state now has only four active cases of COVID-19.

Four more persons have recovered from COVID-19 in Meghalaya, taking the total number of coronavirus recovered patients in the state to 41, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said.

"4 more persons from West Jaintia Hills have recovered and test negative for COVID19. Total cases 46. Total Active cases 4 Total recovered 41," the chief minister tweeted late Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a senior health department official of the state said that the recovery rate in Meghalaya is close to 90 per cent.

While one person died of COVID-19 in the state, the recovery rate is by far the best record for a state in India, said the official.

“We have the least COVID-19 cases till date and the best recovery rate," he stated.

So far, altogether 16,931 samples collected from returnees were tested. 16,585 of them have tested negative while test reports of 300 returnees are awaited, the official added.
