COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur surged above 49000-mark as Sunday recorded 1,032 new COVID-19 positive cases.
With the new positive cases, Manipur's COVID-19 caseload surged to 49,882, while the death toll mounted to 793 with 17 more fatalities in a span of 24 hours.
The new COVID-19 cases included 1,027 from the general population and five personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
As many as 310 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from Imphal West alone, while 281 cases were recorded from Imphal East. The other new COVID-19 cases among the general population included 100 from Churachandpur, 95 from Thoubal, 78 from Bishnupur, 46 from Tamenglong, 36 from Kakching, 25 from Jiribam, 18 from Senapati, 11 from Tengnoupal, 10 from Ukhrul, nine from Kamjong, five from Chandel and one each from Kangpokpi, Noney and Pherzawl, the release stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.
The 17 COVID-19 fatalities on Sunday included five each from Churachandpur and Imphal East, four from Imphal West, two from Kakching and one from Ukhrul, as per the release.
Meanwhile, 563 new recoveries pushed the cumulative number of recovered cases to 40,607. With these new recoveries, the number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur stands at 8,482 while the recovery rate is 81.40 per cent, the release stated.
The release further stated that a total of 1,875 D type oxygen cylinders and 512 B type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state.
The number of people who have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur reached 3,82,352, as per the latest update.
