The Kuki Students' Organisation Moltam Block Kangpokpi district and Saheibung Village Authority strongly condemned the alleged firing at Saheibung peak on Monday by miscreants.
The two bodies while condemning the incident stated that the miscreants who are believed to have come for a picnic, fired several rounds of bullets at Saheibung peak located near Kotlen Assam Rifles camp.
It also stated that owing to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Saheibung Peak known for its scenic beauty, was closed down by the village authority.
However, a few people who are well aware of the situation and closure of the peak, deliberately ignored the restriction imposed by village authority and entered the peak. While not only enjoying at the peak they also shot several rounds of bullets, creating panic among the surrounding inhabitants, it added.
It further stated that considering the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the state government had restricted all types of gatherings but the unknown miscreants while violating the SOPs visited Saheibung peak which was also closed following the government's restrictions.
The KSO Moltam block and Saheibung Village Authority appealed to the authority concerned to book them at the earliest so as to bring normalcy in the area and to prevent similar incidents in future.
