As the Coronavirus second wave strikes Manipur mercilessly with ever-increasing number of new COVID-19 positive cases and COVID death toll rising daily, people are at a loss in grappling with the situation and emergency conditions. While there is shortage of ambulances and hospital beds in government hospitals, the medical charges at private hospitals for COVID patients are exhorbitantly high and the poor are rendered helpless and clueless in dealing with the situation as concerned authorities are reportedly not doing enough in spreading awareness. In the wake of it, a 'COVID-19 Awareness and Appropriate Behaviour' drive was conducted by the Assam Rifles at Kangvai village, Churachandpur.
As part of its public outreach campaign, Loktak Battalion, Assam Rifles organised a 'COVID-19 Awareness and Appropriate Behaviour' drive at Kangvai village, Churachandpur on Wednesday, stated a release.
The awareness drive included a road show on resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic and dissemination of "Do's and Don'ts" .
They stressed upon social distancing, wearing of masks and the importance of vaccination to help contain the spread of the disease, it stated.
The residents of the village were also sensitised on adhering COVID-19 guidelines to restrict community spread of the disease, the release added.
