The second wave of Covid-19 in India has left many families broken and many of us are going through unimaginable struggle and suffering with shortage of beds or unavailability of oxygen, medicines, etc. We don't know how long this virus plans to attack and demolish us. As of now it seems to be attacking almost every household. But I still strongly believe that if we come together, support and help each other then there is hope that we can overcome by tackling the challenges together and minimise the pain it has caused us.

Working on the ground for people from Northeast India in Delhi, we have been receiving many distress calls and messages, we try to do our best to help those who asked for help but it is becoming more and more difficult each day because many things are not in our hands.

Therefore, here are a few things that we can do collectively to help save lives and overcome the several challenges as COVID-19 continues to claim more lives and cause irreparable loss and devastation to all.

At the Metro Cities, if the state government can work out a plan with respective Bhavans/houses to attend to the people from their respective states. It could be arranging temporary care rooms, it could be arranging basic necessities like oxygen, medicines and helpline to assist in providing those who are in dire need so that it is readily accessible for them.

Back home in Northeast India, our states also have to be mentally and physically prepared with resources in advance with the learnings from the situation happening in other cities and states, we can already make sure that there is no shortage of basic necessities at the district level. The church and civil society organizations, social leaders etc can also play an important role in promoting awareness and extending helping hand at this time.

Though this is a virus which attacks us individually, we can fight together, extend helping hand, make contributions that will also help many people who are struggling. Besides, utmost importance is to keep ourselves safe, not venture out and follow all given protocols.

It is heart-breaking to learn every morning that, one by one we are succumbing to this virus. Let us wake up and help each other and pray that we will get through this together.
