COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur soared to 32,523 on Monday with a record single-day new positive cases of 362, while the death toll moved up to 422 with seven more deaths in a span of 24 hours, according to the state health department.
With the new positive cases, the number of COVID-19 active cases in the state also surged to 2,071. On Sunday, the number of active cases stood at 1,823.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases at 146 and 122. The remaining new COVID-19 positive cases included 23 from Kakching; 22 from Bishnupur; 14 each from Thoubal and Churachandpur; eight from Kangpokpi; five from Chandel; two each from Tamenglong, Senapati and Noney; and one each from Ukhrul and Kamjong, as per a release issued by the Common COVID-19 Control Room stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional director and spokesperson, Manipur Health Department, stated in the release.
The COVID-19 deaths recorded on Monday in Manipur included three from Imphal West, two from Thoubal, and one each from Imphal East and Kakching, the release stated.
Meanwhile, the cumulative number of COVID-19 recovered cases reached 30,030 with 107 new recoveries. But the recovery rate dropped to 92.33 per cent from Sunday's 93.04 per cent, it stated.
The release further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo flights 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been asked to inform the Common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.
As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state reached 20,9,074.
All persons above 45 years are advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, District hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals, the release added.
