‘Justice for Sanaton Athokpam’ along with civil bodies and student groups in Manipur warned of intensifying agitations over the demand for post-mortem and investigation reports of Sanaton’s death case.
The decision was taken during a public meeting held on Saturday at Lainingthou Awaba Sanglen, Khurai, Imphal organised by ‘Justice for Sanaton Athokpam.’
The meeting also resolved to demand immediate lodging of an FIR in connection with Sanaton’s death, suspension of RIMS director, dean (academics) and hostel warden and interrogation of the warden.
The public meeting was attended by AMUCO, UCM, AMSU, DESAM, AMAWOVA, ICHAL, MAPI, COUNCIL, NIPCO, USU, YOU, 10-Union, TUC, Citizen Club, Porei Leimarol, WASEDEV, Tammi Chingmi, Apunba Nupi Lup, Kanglei Ima Lup, Nupi Samaj, AMKIL, CHITUWA, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup and others. They said the investigation agency as well as the RIMS authority had not disclose any fact findings of the case though one month had passed since the incident took place.
During the meeting, secretary organisation (in-charge) of AMUCO Santosh assured giving full support to the movement demanding justice for Sanaton.
Vice-president of AMSU, L Athouba drew attention of the public and urged them to prepare for intense forms of agitations against the government for allegedly remaining silent despite the protests.
