Curfew from 8 pm to 4 am daily as new COVID-19 cases surge in Manipur

Free movement to be allowed for all goods carrier vehicles including medical oxygen; all essential service establishments like Pharmacies, Clinics, Hospitals, Power supply, Public Health Engineering, Municipal offices engaged in cleaning, Fire services and medical oxygen manufacturing plants.

The state government has issued an order for imposition of night curfew from 8 pm to 4 am every day, keeping in view the prevailing Covid situation in the country and the state.

An order signed by chief secretary and chairman, state executive committee Rajesh Sharma stated that the number of infections has increased exponentially in the last fortnight, necessitating many states to impose partial lockdown and night curfews to reduce unnecessary movement and intermingling of people.

The order mentioned categories which the imposed curfew shall not be applicable and shall be allowed free movement. They include all goods carrier vehicles including medical oxygen; all essential service establishments like Pharmacies, Clinics, Hospitals, Power supply, Public Health Engineering, Municipal offices engaged in cleaning, Fire services and medical oxygen manufacturing plants, it stated.

It also includes personnel of the establishments mentioned including that of veterinary services. All government officials who have been assigned specific duties of COVID-19 management or other emergency services are also exempted from the curfew, it added.
