As the Manipur government is fighting a political battle to survive in the wake of the recent upheaval, the citizens and health workers in the state are fighting the real fight to survive and save lives amid the lack of infrastructure and manpower to deal with the situation. The state on Friday evening reported as many as 75 new COVID-19 confirmed cases, taking the total number of positive cases and active cases to 681 and 463 respectively.
All the 75 new cases, 41 males and 34 female patients, are returnees from other states and they have been shifted to Covid care facilities at JNIMS and RIMS, the state health department spokesperson Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a 7 pm release on Friday.
Of them, three are from Chandel, while four are from Churachandpur, two from Kamjong, seven from Senapati, 29 from tamenglong and 30 from Ukhrul district, Dr Mangang said.
Meanwhile, 19 patients were discharged on Friday after they were found COVID-19 negative on RT-PCR test. With it, the total number of recovered cases has risen to 218. The recovery rate is now 32.01 per cent.
The Covid care centre at UNACCO Maitram in Imphal West has now sealed up its intake capacity to 297.
At present, there are 210 Covid-19 positive asymptomatic patients in the facilities at CCC, UNACCO (167), Bishnupur district hospital (33) and Ukhrul district hospital (10), Dr Mangang added in the release.
