Manipur CM N Biren Singh takes COVID-19 vaccine first dose

The chief minister appealed to all eligible to get themselves inoculated.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday took first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal during the launch of ‘Tika Utsav’ - vaccination festival

Taking to Twitter, the chief minister appealed to all eligible to get themselves inoculated.

"Took my 1st dose of #COVID19 vaccine at JNIMS during the launching of #TikaUtsav (11th-14th April 2021). I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Stay safe from the #SecondWave. Together, let us make our State and the Country COVID-19 free," CM Biren tweeted.

Joining the rest of the country, the four-day Tika Utsav was launched in Manipur at JNIMS.

The chief minister had earlier mentioned that the percentage of vaccination in the state for individuals above 60 years of age is low with only about 2,000 individuals getting vaccinated out of around 6 lakh so far. 

Biren made a mass appeal for people eligible for vaccination to get vaccinated during the campaign in order to prevent second wave of the pandemic.
