The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur surged to 606 as 54 more persons, 20 males and 34 females, tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, state health department said.
Of the 54 new cases, Pherzawl reported 26 cases, Senapati 21 and the other seven cases were reported from Churachandpur district, health department spokesperson and additional director Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release.
The spokesperson stated that the new cases were confirmed at the VRDL of JNIMS in Imphal. They are all returnees from other states, he stated, adding that they are being shifted to Covid Care Facilities.
Manipur so far has 407 active COVID-19 cases and 199 recovered cases.
On Thursday, seven more patients were discharged from JNIMS after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR Test. The recovery rate in the state is 32.83 per cent, the health department said.
Meanwhile, the health department informed that those coming to the state by road would be allowed entry till 4 pm from Mao gate and 12 pm from Jiribam gate. In the case of vehicle with passengers from different districts, the passenger will report to Modern College (Porompat) District Screening Centre, if there is no transport arrangement beyond Imphal, the health department said.
All other cases may report directly to their respective district screening centre, it stated. While all returnees coming by air will report to HRD Academy, Ghari, who will then be grouped as per the district. The deputy commissioner of the concerned district will arrange for their pickup, the health department added.
