Assam Rifles jawan injured in grenade attack

Sources said the rifleman was standing near the gate when the hand-grenade was thrown inside the gate by the suspected UG cadres.

Unknown miscreant exploded a hand-grenade at the gate of Assam Rifles Transit Camp, near Minuthong on Wednesday injuring a jawan. Police said the incident occurred around 7.45 pm.

The injured rifleman is identified as Bimal Rai of 43 AR, who sustained injury on his left arm. However, he is said to be out of danger.

Sources said the rifleman was standing near the gate when the hand-grenade was thrown inside the gate by the suspected UG cadres.

On receiving the news, Superintendent of Police Imphal West, K Meghachandra immediately rushed to the blast site to take stock of the situation. The AR transit camp had come under similar attacks in several occasions.
