FEGOCTA has appealed to the college teachers of Manipur to start resuming their normal duties as the federation have come to an understanding with the state government regarding the implementation of the UGC 7th Pay and Regulations, 2018.
The 16-day-long cease work strike was called off on Saturday following an assurance given by the state government of issuing the order of the UGC 7th Pay and Regulations within two weeks as per the demands of the federation, said general secretary of FEGOCTA N Somorendro while speaking to the media on Sunday at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Following a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh regarding the long standing demands of the college teachers on Saturday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between representatives of FEGOCTA, AMCTA and the state government for providing UGC 7th Pay to college teachers notionally from January 1, 2016
He said in the earlier order of the UGC 7th Pay recommendation dated February 25 issued by the Higher Education department, several demands made by FEGOCTA were missing in the order, however the MoU signed with the state government assured of including the demands of FEGOCTA in new order which is to be issued soon.
Lauding the chief minister’s intervention and resolving FEGOCTA agitations with statesmanship approach and concern for higher education, Somorendro said that the federation has high hope that the government will issue the order very soon as per the MoU.
