The recently recruited contract secondary lecturers who were posted at different Higher Secondary Schools in Tamenglong and Noney are being transferred out immaturely which is against the government’s directive, the Joint Tribe Students’ Association (JTSA) stated on Tuesday.
It stated that the directive of the government clearly states, “the appointment is school specific and non-transferable” in the notification dated June 21 2018 by the Directorate of Education (S), government of Manipur. Such unhealthy and immature practices of transfer and posting by highly qualified contractual lecturers is seriously viewed and appealed to the state government to initiate action without any political affiliation, it stated.
JTSA stated that the system of hiring substitute lecturers is mushrooming in many government educational institutions with marginal irregular salary. These practices of keeping substitute teachers/lecturers by government teachers/lecturers should be immediately stopped by the government in the larger interest of the students’ community, else face the consequence of the students’ community, it added.
The association appreciates the steps taken by education minister S Rajen Singh by initiating action against teachers/lecturers and other departmental personnel who failed to discharge their regular duties at their respective place of posting, it stated.
Such bold and sincere steps of the education minister deserve praise since it will definitely salvage thousands of careers of promising students of the state, a release stated.
It stated that this is the beginning of correcting the path and reviving the system and the quality of education in Manipur. “We assure to extend our best possible continuous support and cooperation in all future endeavours to the Education minister,” it added.
“The JTSA shall also be inspecting every institution in our jurisdiction under the aegis of the ambitious chief minister and Education minister,” it added.
