Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) Manipur on Tuesday announced that a mass rally on war against drugs will be organised on March 7 and urged the public to join the rally and not to impose any kind of bandhs or general strike.
Speaking in a press conference at its New Checkon office on Tuesday, president, CCSK Jitendra Ningomba said the drugs menace in the state has been rising without any sign of slowing down. To prevent these unwanted issues, the committee is set to organise a mass rally on March 7 in association with the User Connection Supportive Committee, he said while adding the rally will be held under the theme ‘Yes to Life, No to drug.’
He further said that the rally will be flagged off from Kangla Western Gate and conclude at Hapta Kangjeibung. The rally will be followed by a meeting at Hapta Kangjeibung.
While urging all to take part in the rally, he said that the drugs issue is affecting every section of society. Not showing concern or not attempting to solve this problem at the right time may cause further deterioration of society, he said. As such, collective efforts from every walk of life are the utmost need to combat the issue, he added.
To make the rally successful, the people of the state irrespective of caste, creed, and religion must attend without fail, he further said while appealing not to call bandhs or general strike by any section of the society.
