Ministerial team visits colleges, to take action against absentees

A ministerial team led by Education Minister S Rajen Singh and accompanied by commissioner, Higher and Technical Education, M Harekrishna Singh, director, Education (U), Rangitabali Waikhom and other officials of the department visited colleges and schools for inspection on Tuesday.

Minister Rajen and his team visited Malom Megha Government High School, Nambol Higher Secondary School, Oinam Girls’ Government High School, Royal Academy of Law, Oinam, Thambal Marik College, Oinam, Nambol L Sanoy College and SK Women’s College.

During his visit at Malom Megha Government High School, the minister inspected the newly constructed and renovated classrooms. He interacted with the students and urged the students and teachers to use face masks during school hours and instructed the staff to keep the school campus neat and clean.

The team also visited Oinam Girls’ High School and Nambol Higher Secondary School. During his visit at Nambol Higher Secondary School, two teaching staffs were found absent while checking the attendance register of the school staffs. He instructed the authority concerned to take up appropriate action against the absentees.

The education minister was pleased to see the good attendance of students in the class while visiting S Kulla Women’s College, Nambol. As informed by the principal, Thambal Marik College, Oinam and Vice Principal, Nambol L. Sanoy College, normal classes were conducted today.

Scrutiny of student’s union election was also held at the colleges. Three staffs of the college including one non-teaching staff were found staying away from duty during the visit at S Kulla Women College. Royal Academy of Law, Oinam was also conducting semester exams during the visit.

The minister also instructed the college staffs to provide face masks to those students who wore no face mask in the classrooms. Minister Rajen also visited different departments of the college. He also interacted with the students. Later, the team visited L Sanoi College, Nambol and inspected the campus. Five teachers of the college were found absent during the visit at the college.

The minister informed the concerned officials to initiate appropriate action against those absentee teachers of the college.
