Police detain 161 SOP violators in Imphal

Altogether a fine of Rs 17,800 were collected from the violators.

The Manipur Police on Sunday detained 161 individuals for violating the COVID appropriate behaviour (CAB) guidelines and released them later after giving them warning. Altogether a fine of Rs 17,800 were collected from the violators.

The police department continues to crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, said a statement issued by the Manipur Police.

The restriction includes failure to wear masks in public places, maintain social distancing in public places and for spitting in public places among others, stated the release.

It warned that those individual(s) who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
