COVID-19 Updates in Manipur: 32 more test positive; total cases rise to 490

Meanwhile, 60 more patients were on Monday discharged from RIMS and JNIMS in Imphal after they tested negative for COVID-19 on Sunday on RT PCR Test.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur increased to 490 as 32 more persons tested positive for the virus, state health department said on Monday.

The health department spokesperson Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang said in a release that the new cases were confirmed at the VRDLs of RIMS and JNIMS.

"All necessary medical precautionary measures are now in place," Dr Mangang stated.

On Monday, 60 more patients were discharged from RIMS and JNIMS in Imphal after they tested negative for COVID-19 on Sunday on RT PCR Test. Of them, 22 were discharged from RIMS while the other 38 were discharged from JNIMS, the spokesperson added.

With the new discharged cases, the number of active cases in the state stood at 339.

Meanwhile, according to a survey by the media team of the health department, 39.5 per cent of pedestrians do not wear face mask of which three per cent of gave economic reasons and 26.7 cited medical reasons. The remaining 70 per cent could not give a valid reason for not wearing face mask despite the state government’s decision to make face mask compulsory in public places. Stating that wearing of face mask is very effective for protecting self and others from contracting COVID-19, the state department appealed to all people to wear face mask while going out.
