44 Assam Rifles holds children outreach programme in Tamenglong

The programme was attended by a total of 86 inmates, including 41 girls, 37 boys and eight children below six years of age residing in three institutions at Tamenglong.

IGAR (East), SM Vishisht Sewa Medal Major General, Ranjit Singh exhorted the children of childcare homes in Tamenglong and urged them to work hard to improve their life.

“The only way to progress in life is through study and hard work. There is no shortcut to success, you must study hard and work hard and improve your life,” IGAR (East), SM Vishisht Sewa Medal Major General, Ranjit Singh exhorted the children of childcare homes run by Indigenous Women and Children Foundation (IWCF), Tamenglong.

He was speaking during a children outreach programme at the child care homes, organised by 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Sector 22 Sect/IGAR (East) at Tamenglong camp complex.

The programme was attended by a total of 86 inmates, including 41 girls, 37 boys and eight children below six years of age residing in three institutions at Tamenglong.

Motivating the children to stick to their talents, he said that one can become like celebrated boxer Mary Kom or famous personality in any field if they aim high and work hard. The Assam Rifles unit is in Tamenglong to help children in achieving their dreams, he added.

Speaking to the media, Ranjit Singh said that security measures need to be tightened in Manipur to minimise illegal extortion. One must choose the right path by doing right thing and get into mainstream by joining peace talk and development works, he said.

The major general also gifted two swings to the child care homes. A colourful traditional dance and song performance by children entertained the guests in the programme.
