Rs 147250.46 lakh estimated for vocational education in 2020-21, says Manipur CM Biren on Girl Child Day

Currently, 5.22 lakhs girl students are undergoing vocational education under Samagra Shiksha Scheme, Chief Minister Biren said.

Celebrating the National Girl Child Day, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh took to social media and highlighted in a series of tweets several initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for the development of the girl child. He also posted a picture of him celebrating the day with several kids.

Samagra Shiksha - An Integrated Scheme:

The chief minister said that the Union Education Ministry launched the "Samagra Shiksha - An Integrated Scheme" for encouraging girls' education. Under the scheme, Rs 147250.46 lakh has been estimated for Vocational Education in the current year, he said.

“In a historic move under the leadership of PM @narendramodi ji, the Ministry of Education has launched the "Samagra Shiksha - An Integrated Scheme" for encouraging girls' education by incentivising the system to ensure greater enrollment.

“Encouraging gender sensitivity, gender-segregated toilets will be provided under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme to meet girls' safety, hygiene & sanitation. This scheme focuses on improving the quality of education by augmenting on the two T’s – Teachers & Technology.

“With the vision of PM @narendramodi ji's inclusive education, the Samagra Shiksha Scheme has provided two sets of uniforms to all the girls belonging to SC/ST/BPL families in Govt schools up to class VIII standard at an average cost of Rs. 600 per child per annum,

“In the year 2020-21, Rs. 147250.46 lakh has been estimated for Vocational Education. Currently, 5.22 lakhs girl students are undergoing vocational education under Samagra Shiksha Scheme,” Biren tweeted.

Gender Inclusion Fund - NEP 2020

Biren also pointed out that the Central government has introduced ‘Gender Inclusion Fund’ in NEP-2020 for the development of the girl child.

“NEP 2020 has introduced a Gender Inclusion Fund for targeting the development of girl child. The Central Govt, under the leadership of PM @narendramodi ji will constitute a Gender Inclusion Fund to provide quality and equitable education for all girls,” he posted in another tweet.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme mission

Biren said the scheme was launched to address the worsening situation of female infanticide.

“To address the deteriorating condition of female infanticide, declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and related issues of women empowerment, PM @narendramodi ji started the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' scheme in Panipat, Haryana on 22 January of 2015 to address the situation”.

“Since the BBBP, the multi-sectoral District Action Plans have been operationalized in almost all states. Capacity-building programmes and Training have been imparted to Trainers to further strengthen the capacities of district-level officials and frontline workers,” he tweeted.

Biren also tweeted that BBBP scheme aimed to bring three significant impacts.

“Hon'ble PM @narendramodi ji's #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao mission aimed to bring three significant impacts-

- The achievement of the education access to the girl child,

- balance of the male-female ratio, and

 - to highlight the focus of the child rights.

Women Scientist Scheme

The unique Women Scientist Scheme has benefited around 1,400 women scientists, Biren said.

“Women Scientist Scheme’ provides opportunities to women scientists & technologists, especially those who had a break in career for pursuing research in frontier areas of Science & Engineering. Around 1,400 women scientists have been benefited in the last 3 years.

“Science and Technology for women scheme, under the leadership of PM @narendramodi ji, is focused to empower women at grassroots level for livelihood generation through suitable technologies and available natural resources in their native areas. #DeshKiBeti,” he tweeted.

Umang – EkPahal to tackle dropouts

“To tackle the challenge of high absenteeism and dropouts among adolescent girls in school, PM @narendramodi ji's “Umang – EkPahal” initiative is creating awareness regarding menstrual health and distributing free sanitary napkins.” Biren added in another tweet.
