A team of Thoubal Police arrested an active cadre of proscribed outfit KYKL on Monday at around 5 am.
According to police source, Thoubal police received a reliable information about the presence of one member of KYKL namely Yaikhom Janendro at his house located at Wabgai Terapishak Maning Leikai near water supply of Kakching district.
The source continued that immediately acting on the information under the over-all supervision of the SP of Thoubal, S Ibomcha and led by additional SP (Ops), Sachidananda Soibam along with inspector, N Tikendra Meetei,OC of Thoubal commando and havildar, L Ibobi and Hemanta conducted search operation at his residence. In the operation, Yaikhom Janendro alias Romen alias Janey, 35, son of late Sidam of Wabgai Terapishak Maning Leikai was arrested near water supply.
On preliminary interrogation, the source informed that the arrested cadre disclosed that he is working under the command of one self-styled major Khellemba alias Rakesh alias James and involved in extortion in Yairipok areas of Thoubal district. Three mobile handsets were also seized from him. The arrested person and the seized mobile handsets have been handed over to Hiyanglam PS for further legal action. He was earlier arrested by CDO Kakching in January, 2020 and detained under NSA. He came out of the jail in November 2020, the source added.
A day earlier, a team of Lilong PS led by OC, inspector Md Rias Khan conducted frisking and checking at Lilong Lou Tara crossing near waiting shed on Sunday in connection with ensuing Republic Day to detect the movement of illegal items and antisocial elements.
As per police source, in that operation at around 10:30 pm, illegal drug items that included 77 boxes of Spasan-Plus Capsules (SP Capsules) containing 144 numbers of capsules in each box, counting 11,088 capsules in total were detected in a black colour bag. The items were seized from the possession of Md Najir Hussain, 25, son of Md Nasir Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong in presence of volunteers of ALADA-Lilong as civil witnesses by observing formalities.
A case under FIR no. 04 (01) 2021 LIL PS u/s 21(c) ND and PS Act has been registered in this regard for investigation, the source mentioned
