Awareness campaign on ‘War on Drugs’ held at Sora

More than 20 drug users of different age groups, who were caught red-handed by the volunteers of the joint committee from Sora area before the launching of the campaign, attended the event.

The User Connection and Support Committee, Kangleipak along with Anti Drugs Joint Committee, Kairang, Khomidok, Khabeisoi jointly conducted an awareness programme on ‘War on Drugs’ on Saturday at Sora market, Kakching district.

Interestingly, more than 20 drug users of different age groups, who were caught red-handed by the volunteers of the joint committee from Sora area before the launching of the campaign, were brought to the campaign spot and were seen attending the event.

President of CSSK, Jeetendra Ningomba, who attended the event as a guest of honour, expressed his strong concern over the rampant use of drugs among the youths of the state. He also lauded the state government for introducing ‘War on Drugs’ and added that people of the state should join hands with the government on war against drugs.

Giving his chief guest speech, additional SP (Law and Order) of Kakching, Yumnam Joiraj explained about the importance of war against drugs. He also elaborated on different social crimes which are often committed by drug users.

The event also witnessed the presence of several youths from different CVOs.
