Nursing superintendent of district hospital Chandel TS Khingam became the first person to receive COVID-19 vaccine for Chandel district.
During Covid-19 vaccination campaign for Chandel district at the district hospital Chandel on Saturday, 54 health workers were also vaccinated and the target is set to vaccinate 1,700 health workers.
Deputy commissioner Chandel Mayanglambam Rajkumar, chief medical officer Chandel Serthani serbum, superintendent of police Chandel Madhunimai Ningthoujam and SDO Chandek St Rithung Anal attended the campaign as chief guest, guest of honour and president.
In his speech, the deputy commissioner said that COVID-19 vaccination comes as a ray of hope in the fight against the pandemic. He also encouraged the health care workers to participate in the vaccination programme to further spread awareness on COVID-19.
