Literary awards mark 54th anniversary of Sahitya Seva Samiti in Kakching

Chongtham Jamini of Changangei Uchekon Divya Bharti Ashram, Imphal was awarded the 'Chandrashakhi Laishram Gold Medal in Literature 2020' for her contributions and works in the field of literature.

Annual and biannual literary awards for 2020 were presented at the 54th anniversary of the Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching on Friday.

The event, which was held at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre Kakching, opened with floral tribute to the departed souls of Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching. 

Chongtham Jamini of Changangei Uchekon Divya Bharti Ashram, Imphal was awarded the 'Chandrashakhi Laishram Gold Medal in Literature 2020' for her contributions and works in the field of literature.

'Yambem Mani Sahitya Award 2020', was awarded to Professor Dr Nongmaithem Rajmuhon Singh of Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai, Canchipur for his work Marie Curie.

The novel/short story award, 'Yendrembam Surlata Purakar' was conferred on Haobam Nalini of Canchipur for Kanglamdriba Eephut.

The 'Chingkhu Moirangthem Kabirdas Award' was presented to RK Sanahanbi (Leekkhombi) Chanu of Luwangshangbam for Lan Khamle Imana.

The 'Kshetri ongbi Nalini Devi Memorial Award', was given to Abdul Hamid of Shingerban Cachar Assam, for Wangmagi Torbanduda.

The 'Kshetrimayum Chaoba Translation Award 2020' was presented to Salam Tomba of Toubul Bishnupur district for the translation of Arbinda Arigha's White Tiger to Angouba Kei in Manipuri.

The 'Chandrashakhi Laishram Chumthang Award 2020', was awarded to Naorem Munal Meitei of Kakching Mayai Leikai for his prose "Shiroi Lily - Manipur Imagi Naitom Pokchabi Mamomloi".

Inaobi Huirem of Naharup Huirem Leikai, Kongba Standard College Road, Imphal was awarded for the poem "Thawaina Lei Oina Shaili Lamdamshida" and Rajeshwar Yengkhom of Sagolband Khamnam Leirak, Imphal for his short story "Heinou Achar".

During the event, the annual literary journal of Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching Chumthang edited by Ksh Joykumar was also brought out.

The event witnessed the presence of  Nongmaithem Kirankunar, convenor, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy New Delhi as chief guest while Yengkhom Kengba, president, Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching as president and renowned satirist Moirangthem Rajendra, president, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal District branch as guest of honour.
