Students' unions denounce MUC authority; resolve to agitate if demands not fulfilled by January 13

A public meeting held on January 9 also resolved that teachers of MUC involved in online classes before settling the demands of the students should be solely responsible.

A public meeting on ‘denouncing the MA eligibility criteria of Manipur University of Culture (MUC)’ has resolved to launch agitations if the demands of Government Dance College, JN Music Dance Academy and Music College students are not fulfilled by January 13.

The public meeting was held at Sangeet Kala Sangal hall, Khurai Lamlong bazar on January 9. The meeting also resolved that teachers of MUC involved in online classes before settling the demands of the students should be solely responsible in case any untoward incident happens in the future.

A joint release sent out by the students’ union of the three institutes on Sunday stated that the public meeting denounced the nature of MUC authority as the later could not solve the demands of the students even though the protest has been going on for two months.

It stated that the public meeting unanimously condemns the policy of the MUC authority which out rightly rejected the graduate passed out students of the three institutions from enrolling in the newly opened Master Course.

“The introduction of a lateral entry course separately as an alternative means for the students of the three students is not acceptable at all”, it added.
