COVID-19 positive cases in Mizoram crossed 100 mark as nine more people tested positive for the virus on Thursday, state health department said.
Among the 135 samples tested, nine were found positive taking the tally to 102, the health department said. Of them, seven are females and two males, it said.
The health department said that five of the fresh cases are Delhi returnees; three are Maharashtra returnees and one is a West Bengal returnee.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Health minister Dr R Lalthangliana on Thursday said that samples of all the Chennai returnees, who have completed their quarantine period and released, will be taken as soon as possible for testing.
"The move was prompted by the situation in neighbouring states wherein many returnees from Chennai have tested positive for COVID-19", said the health minister.
“The government is currently tracing the Chennai returnees, who have been discharged from quarantine facilities, and is collecting their swab samples for laboratory test as a precautionary measure,” the minister added.
